Bug 268482

Summary: sys-apps/coreutils-7.* failes in cross compilation because 'df' is not built
Product: Gentoo Linux Reporter: Kai Ruhnau <kai.bugs.gentoo.org>
Component: [OLD] Core systemAssignee: Gentoo's Team for Core System packages <base-system>
Status: RESOLVED DUPLICATE
Severity: normal CC: maxposedon

Hardware: All
OS: Linux

Description Kai Ruhnau 2009-05-03 18:12:54 UTC
This might actually be an upstream problem, but in the end, the ebuild fails:

At least coreutils-7.1 and coreutils-7.2 changed the "checking for statvfs function (SVR4)" and are now considering "#if defined __GLIBC__ && defined __linux__" to be unusable. However as Linux provides the "f_bsize" member in the "struct statfs", the subsequent check for that denotes linux usable again and everything works fine.

But--and this breaks cross compilation--these additional checks are not employed in the "$cross_compiling" = yes case which results in an unusable statfs function and eventually in df not being built at all.

Since the ebuild expects to have everything built, it tries to move several programs to /bin, where the absence of df finally breaks through:

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Setup cross compilation
2. Build coreutils-7.1 or coreutils-7.2
