Description Geoff Madden 2009-04-23 15:53:10 UTC
Updated kde from 4.1.2 to 4.2.2. no observable problems with update,IE all ebuilds performed as expected, but have not been able to login since. Occasionally I am able to get to a console,so I can try and trouble shoot. Have added freetype as that was missing according to xorg.log. Reinstalled evdev keyboard and mouse ,just in case. Still no result.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.start the machine
2.wait till login screen appears
3.attempt to login

Actual Results:
no activity on screen

Expected Results:
logged in

not able to supply the emerge --info !!!!(worked my way round that)

Please try to improve your bug report, including the summary.
Judging from the title, I deduce that you can't get your keyboard and mouse to work on KDE. If so, this was likely caused by your update to xorg-1.5.3 and as such has nothing to do with the KDE team. Also, make sure you follow the guide for the xorg-1.5 update - http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/desktop/x/x11/xorg-server-1.5-upgrade-guide.xml
Comment 2 Geoff Madden 2009-04-26 15:56:23 UTC
I followed the instructions to change my system over to 'evdev' ,but still had to use the xorg.conf file.
Also I rebuilt the world system,(prob unnecessary) and now have a machine I can log into.
Many thanks to the individual who set me on the right track.(In reply to comment #1)
