gentoo-sources-2.4.19-r1 (which seems to contain bttv-0.7.91) doesn't include
the dpl3518 driver that is part of bttv-0.7.91.  This driver is required for
Hauppauge WinTV Theater cards.

Current resolution is to download bttv-0.7.91
(http://bytesex.org/bttv/bttv-0.7.91.tar.gz), make it, and install the missing
dpl3518.o to /lib/modules/2.4.19-gentoo-r1/kernel/drivers/media/video/.

Have you tried gentoo-sources-r5?

gentoo-sources-r5 does not contain the driver nor work w/o it either.  The
dpl3518 driver from bttv-0.7.91 is still required.

gentoo-sources-r9 now contains all needed drivers.  Thanks, and my apologies for
a late reply (been out of town on business).
