Update: if anybody else gets blown by this bug, download 2008.0 stage3 and take /bin/touch from there. Then you can downgrade with emerge -av "<coreutils-7". *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 233280 *** |
Just upgraded to coreutils-7.1 and suddenly portage stops working because it can't touch ${PORTAGE_BUILDDIR}/.unpacked}: /bin/touch replies with error "Bad Address". I'm using Gentoo on a VPS hosting and can't control the kernel. As I understand it my hoster is using openvz. This issue is especially serious because it does not allow one to easily downgrade to previous version to coreutils: portage becomes totally broken. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
