Now it fails with maxima-5.18.1. I didn't notice but this bug and bug 272441 are duplicates of each other. *** Bug 272441 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** sci-mathematics/maxima-5.21.1-r1 USE="clisp nls unicode -X (-cmucl) -ecl -emacs (-gcl) -latex -openmcl -sbcl -tk -xemacs" LINGUAS="-es -pt -pt_BR" Compiles and installs fine. Reopen if it still fail with 5.21.1-r1 or newer. I had the same issue and noticed the following during maxima's configure: checking for iconv... true checking for recode... true Cannot map memory to address 0xc7b92000 . [../src/spvw_mmap.d:347] errno = ENOMEM: Not enough memory. /usr/lib/clisp-2.48/base/lisp.run: not enough memory for initialization clisp runtime is "" basename: missing operand Try `basename --help' for more information. checking POSIX shell to see that it contains getopts... trying /bin/sh POSIX shell is /bin/sh checking for egrep... grep -E I re-emerged clisp, now the compile works and this section from maxima's configure reads: checking for iconv... true checking for recode... true clisp runtime is "/usr/lib/clisp-2.48/base/lisp.run" checking POSIX shell to see that it contains getopts... trying /bin/sh POSIX shell is /bin/sh checking for grep that handles long lines and -e... /bin/grep checking for egrep... /bin/grep -E You could consider adding a warning to the ebuild, stating that users should try to re-emerge clisp if maxima's compile fails with this message?
