Description Bjarke Istrup Pedersen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-08-13 17:25:38 UTC
When emerging gkrellmwireless, it gets installed from x11-plugins, where it is
located, but if I do emerge gkrellmwireless -Cp, it wants to remove: net-
wireles/gkrellmwireless , which doesn't exist.
I suspect the gkrellm-plugins ebuild to cause this, but I'm not sure.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge gkrellmwireless -p
2. emerge gkrellmwireless
3. emerge gkrellmwireless -Cp
4. emerge gkrellmwireless -C

Actual Results:
Watch the errors when unemerging.

Expected Results:
unemerged gkrellmwireless from x11-plugins instead of net-wireless.

I hope somebody else that me is able to reproduce this, so it can get fixed,
since it is trivial, but still VERY annoying.
Comment 1 Bjarke Istrup Pedersen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-08-13 17:40:47 UTC
This is wierd:

# qpkg -q net-wireless/gkrellmwireless
net-wireless/gkrellmwireless-2.0.2 *
DEPENDED ON BY:
        x11-plugins/gkrellm-plugins-1.2.11-r1

The wierd thing is, then I look in the ebuild for gkrellm-plugins, it points to x11-plugins/gkrellmwireless and not net-wireless/gkrellmwireless .

I really have no idea about why portage wants it to be in there.

seems like it's a portage bug
package moved
Comment 3 Bjarke Istrup Pedersen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-08-18 13:35:05 UTC
A temporary fix it to symlink /usr/portage/net-wireless/gkrellmwireless to /usr/portage/x11-plugins/gkrellmwireless .
That makes portage behave correct, but it is not useable as a permanent fix.

In what category is it in /var/db/pkg and /var/cache/edb/dep ?
Comment 5 Bjarke Istrup Pedersen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-09-06 10:51:12 UTC
