Ooops - sorry about that - dodgy key bindings! I'm using an ancient, headless i586 and rely on serial console support. Kernels built by the genkernel utility include serial support as a module, as a result serial console support is not available - serial support needs to be compiled into the kernel in order for this to work. -Ronan specifically, what needs enabled? Just serial console support under character devices? Standard / Generic serial support needs to be compiled into the kernel rather than as a module. Once that's enabled you then need to select 'console on serial port' as an option. kernel config issue |
