since bug #245192 is the only thing holding back gcc-4.3 stabilization and it's going to take a while to fix, the attached patches get 1.34.1 building with 4.3 instead, as well as fix most of the testsuite failures i came across.

as this is a build fix and doesn't require a rev. bump, i'd like apply this patch directly to the current stable ebuild.

nevermind.  it was a lot easier to get the testsuite for 1.35.0 working than i thought.  wish i had done that first.
