I installed evolution 2.24.5 and when I ran it none of the UI icons appeared.

I then googled for gentoo evolution missing icons

This URL suggested a workaround:

The workaround is:

$ chmod -R 0775 /usr/share/icons
$ echo gtk-icon-theme-name=\"gnome\" >> ~/.gtkrc-2.0

This workaround worked for me.


Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge evolution under kde
2.start evolution


Actual Results:  
Where there should be icons there are red x's.


Expected Results:  
There should be UI icons, not red x's.

Please post your "emerge --info" and tell us which kde-version you are using.

I also am experiencing this loss-of-icons in Evolution 2.24.5, however I'm running XFCE4 + compiz-fusion/Emerald for my desktop and window-manager.

was enough for me to get things working.  no need to chmod
