build.log
Hi, I have also been hitting the same problem. Setting USE=iconv seems to fix the problem. This error (also present in your log) is what starts all the other errors: make help/help_create.sh help/help_mp-en.h Error: missing parameters Usage: help/help_create.sh <messages file> <character set> Looking at the .configure script, it appears the $CHARSET variable, which they then use to run help_create.sh, could potentially be undefined if somehow they couldn't figure it out from $_charset. That variable, in turn, could potentially be manually set by a --charset configure parameter, which our ebuild doesn't set. When it's not set, they'll automatically guess one. How they guess it and how it suddenly start failing is beyond me... Curiously enough, the same mplayer compiles on my other computer with the same USE=-iconv. Migrating my non-NULL LC_CTYPE setting to this box does NOT fix the problem. So the real cause remains a mystery. Not sure if it's related but my other box have iconv coming from glibc 2.8_p20080602 while the broken box have iconv from glibc 2.5-r4. Have fun debugging. :-) Please test 20090731 snapshot in tree, reopen if it's still a issue |
