Bug 261919

Summary: x11-wm/enlightenment-16 should require the imlib2 be built with PNG support
Product: Gentoo Linux Reporter: Sam M W <wilsonsamm>
Component: [OLD] LibraryAssignee: SpanKY <vapier>
Status: RESOLVED WONTFIX
Severity: minor
Priority: High
Version: unspecified
Hardware: All
OS: Linux
Whiteboard:
Package list:
Runtime testing required: ---

Description Sam M W 2009-03-09 21:39:52 UTC
Without PNG support in imlib2, e16 is hardly usable, regardless which skin is used.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. USE="-png", this is default for the 2008.0 profile.
2. emerge enlightenment
3.

Actual Results:
I have merged Enlightenment, and it has pulled in many necessary dependencies. Yet, without PNG support in imlib2 the GUI is barely usable, because no icons, checkboxes, or such can appear on the screen. Even the titlebar of each window is blank, and the three clickable icons at the right do not appear.

Expected Results:
I think, that enlightenment should depend on imli2 with png support.

Reassigning to maintainer.

you can install a theme w/out png's and then things should work fine

USE=png is the default for all profiles. if the user has decided to turn that off for whatever reason, they need to account for it.
