A partial solution is given in http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-5535788.html : upgrade to unstable eog-2.24.3.1 . Reassigning to gnome herd. I've never seen that kind of bug. Is there any error message on the console when starting the app from the command line ? @herd what do you think ? No, no message in console. Maybe there is a verbose mode ? The problems usually start after some emerge world. They are not that random; they are "always the same" and 100% reproductible untill I recompile ... what usually fix the problem. Today, i report because rebuild does not fix. And because not having the green arrows since now 2 weeks really bores me. Arrows are drawn in the GUI, in dark green, as if the feature was disabled, even when there are "many" images in the folder. Some guy in the forum also complain about problems when using the slideshow mode. Just now, I try to reproduce the slideshow (I never need this feature) problem (I did not know what it was): I customised the interface to show the slideshow button, close the customisation mode, and clic on the new slideshow button => nothing happen. I think this is the problem the guy had :) And, no message in the console. eog -s /tmp/92220007.jpg just shows one picture, dispite my /tmp contains about 30 images :) eog -s shows grey empty interface (my ~/ does also contain about 10 pics) Both slideshow and arrows not showing up may technically be related to the same backend problem. I thought maybe EOG is just unable to list directories for some reason - I have no clue. (In reply to comment #5) > eog -s /tmp/92220007.jpg > just shows one picture, dispite my /tmp contains about 30 images :) shows the picture plus arrows correctly enabled for me > eog -s > shows grey empty interface (my ~/ does also contain about 10 pics) same here, I guess that's an upstream bug > Both slideshow and arrows not showing up may technically be related to the same > backend problem. I thought maybe EOG is just unable to list directories for > some reason - I have no clue. me neither, is it working better with 2.26 ? Also, it would probably be a good idea to see if strace can't give a hint at if eog fails to find files, otherwise I think you'll have to resort using gdb. Please get back to us. At the moment, I have the green buttons. No clue why, and forgot exactly when they came back. |
