After compiling gaming-sources with parport, parport_pc, lp, as modules and 
modprobing lp. enven though dmesg recognized my printer (wrote HP 710C etc.) no 
/dev/printer nor /dev/lp0 were created. 
gentoo-sources worked. 

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. install gaming-sources with parallel printer 
2. modprobe lp 
3. 
Actual Results:  
/dev/lp0 not created 

Expected Results:  
/dev/lp0 created 

Maybe it's ck patces bug not related to gentoo at all.

Try 'mknod /dev/lp0 6 0'. Maybe devfs just isn't working?

I think devfs is OK as it works fine with gentoo-sources
