dev-games/openscenegraph will be a mandatory dependency for simgear (and so flightgear) 1.9.1

So please, test and add arch keyword for it

Sparc added for testing.  It's too bad this package doesn't install any examples, although there seem to be some (at least, the home page says so).

That is, keyworded ~sparc.

You can install some osg applications now.
With osgviewer you can see something, after dl
http://www.openscenegraph.org/projects/osg/wiki/Downloads/SampleDatasets
and using some osg file (like cow.osg)
