Description Derek Greentree 2002-05-08 17:09:51 UTC
emerging X on a Pismo powerbook (with Rage128 mobility video) yields display
problems in some applications (notably vnc and mplayer). Google searches seem
to point at this being an endianness issue in the r128 driver, but other PPC
distros like Debian seem to have corrected it.
Specifically, launching mplayer in gui mode or playing videos shows the display
area with a distinctive yellow tint; likewise running a vnc server off the
laptop (either plain vnc or tightvnc) shows the same yellow tint.

Xine is also affected; perhaps it's related to using the Xv video driver.

Would be interesting to see if this is fixed with the new (-r11) release of
xfree. The old one had incorrect compiler options for ppc (hence the mouse-up
problem). Perhaps this is the problem here too?

I would think this is a kernel DRI issue rather than an xfree issue, I may be
wrong though (the kernel r128 DRI drivers are far from perfected ATM)
