Summary: inconsistency in ebuild man page and skel.ebuild
Product: [OLD] Docs-developer Reporter: Eric Harney <eharney>
Component: Portage DocumentationAssignee: Portage team <dev-portage>
Status: RESOLVED FIXED

Description Eric Harney 2003-08-04 14:56:26 UTC
In "man 5 ebuild", the example at the top shows "econf || die", but then later
in the man, there is a line saying
"*Note: There is no need to use '|| die' because econf checks for you."

skel.ebuild says "Note that econf will die on failure, but plase use econf ||
die for consistency." (typo in the file that should be fixed as well)

These need to all match up somehow, the whole "|| die" thing is rather confusing
to someone making an ebuild for the first time.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:

Expected Results:
Basically, all of the different places need to provide the same information on
whether to use "econf" or "econf || die".
