Description Kris Wong 2009-02-11 14:34:03 UTC
After upgrading my glibc, I can no longer rebuild my kernel or build the proprietary ATI drivers (x11-drivers/ati-drivers). I am receiving errors whenever a file from asm-generic is included. The system cannot find the file. Example:

include/asm/errno.h:1:31: error: asm-generic/errno.h: No such file or directory

I have tried using several versions of the sys-kernel/linux-headers package, re-emerging glibc after each change.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge =sys-libs/glibc-2.9_p20081201-r1
2. cd /usr/src/linux
3. make clean && make

Actual Results:
I received several error messages along the lines of the one in the description.

Expected Results:
It should have built successfully.

Portage 2.2_rc23 (default/linux/x86/2008.0/desktop, gcc-4.3.2, glibc-2.9_p20081201-r1, 2.6.27-gentoo-r7 i686)

Please try, with fresh kernel sources, to recompile your kernel, eselect kernel set <kernel> and retry. This sounds like weirdish kernel-sources issue. Re-open if appropriate.
Comment 2 Kris Wong 2009-02-12 14:54:52 UTC
This did fix my issue. I suppose this was a problem with trying to rebuild a kernel previously built with prior version of glibc. If this is the case, some discussion on this topic in the emerge notes for the glibc package would be helpful.
