Description Matt Campbell 2003-08-02 11:26:54 UTC
Sometimes when I'm using ogg123 or mpg321 to listen to music, the process hangs and I have to kill it from another virtual console. I haven't yet found a way to consistently reproduce the problem, but it seems to be triggered by disk or network activity. My kernel version is 2.4.20-gentoo-r5, and I'm using alsa-driver-0.9.2 with the snd-intel8x0 module. This happens regardless of whether I use the native ALSA interface or the OSS interface provided by snd-pcm-oss. I have CONFIG_PREEMPT and CONFIG_LOLAT turned on. I will try to attach my whole kernel configuration.

Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Once I was able to reproduce the problem by copying a large file (a .mp3 or .ogg file) over my 10 Mbps LAN using scp.
2.
3.

Sounds like a hardware problem, esp. as it doesn't appear to be driver dependant. Can't reproduce here, even with machine under high load.
