Description flo 2003-08-02 06:12:22 UTC
emerge -pv world:
[ebuild    UD] media-libs/libmpeg2-0.3.1 [0.3.2_pre20030625] +sdl +X

when i downgrade to 0.3.1 another emerge -pv world wants to upgrade again to
0.3.2_pre20030625.

it seems that ebuilds are not consistent about stable libmpeg versions.

reproducible on 2 systems.

Can you see what needs libmpeg? It looks like a depend loop with other packages.
 Please paste what this command produces:

  grep libmpeg `find /var/db/pkg -name '*DEPEND'`
Comment 2 flo 2003-10-01 11:07:29 UTC
/var/db/pkg/media-libs/gst-plugins-0.6.2-r1/RDEPEND: mpeg?(>=media-libs/libmpeg2-0.3.1
)
/var/db/pkg/media-libs/gst-plugins-0.6.2-r1/DEPEND: mpeg?(>=media-libs/libmpeg2-0.3.1
)
/var/db/pkg/dev-libs/DirectFB-0.9.18/RDEPEND: mpeg?(media-libs/libmpeg3)
/var/db/pkg/dev-libs/DirectFB-0.9.18/DEPEND: mpeg?(media-libs/libmpeg3)
/var/db/pkg/media-video/transcode-0.6.6/RDEPEND: mpeg? (media-libs/libmpeg3)
/var/db/pkg/media-video/transcode-0.6.6/DEPEND: mpeg? (media-libs/libmpeg3)

some white space removed from above output.

it seems, that problems have vanished now, when i checked the last time.
so i find no point in letting this bug open.

thank you.

I no longer have this problem either so I'll go ahead and close this bug.

For historical purposes, I think the problem was caused by an old version
of
the media-libs/gst-plugins ebuild.
