Hi. Thank you for your contribution.  In the future please post individual files separately
as text/plain files (there's no need to post the digest or manifest).  Lastly, what adventage
does this have over the in-kernel driver?  2.4.21 vanilla kernel has bttv version 0.7.104 and
I saw from changelogs that 2.4.22_pre7 got a bttv update, presumably to the 0.7.107 version.
So is this really needed?

This isn't needed.  The driver is in 2.4 and 2.5 kernels.
