I'd guess this bug is a DUPLICATE of #254029 and thus allready fixed . A newer version of dev-uti/git (1.6.1.1) should be available in the tree, too. Just emerge --sync. 

If this is not the same problem as in #254029, please post the output of "emerge -pv dev-util/git"
