Hiya Steph, Since you upgraded your kernel, did you remember to re-emerge vmware-modules? We don't support the automatic module compilation built in by vmware, since it then can't be handled by our package manager (and hence we can't provide security updates or relevant patches for any issues that may arise). Please re-compile vmware-modules and then try running vmware again. Let me know if it all works then, or if you're still experiencing problems.
