(In reply to comment #1) > In my case, it fails with a different error: Update: Just commanding again: --> emerge -auDN --jobs=2 --load-average=3.0 --keep-going system world emerge succeeds! VERY STRANGE. Unfortunately don't see a chance to continue investigation now ... Anyone else ? In my case one machine got fixed somewhere along the way but the original machine that had the problem still has the problem. It's very frustrating as this is the 2.5 slot of python which is so crucial to moving forward and I cannot get it built so the machine seems stuck. Because Manfred got his system working I gave this machine another try today with the command emerge -e @system and it failed. Comparing, I just realized your > CFLAGS="-O3 -march=athlon-xp -funroll-loops -fprefetch-loop-arrays -pipe" Perhaps you might consider cross-testing with very conservative settings, e.g. > CFLAGS="-O2 -pipe" Looking forward to hearing your result! Kind regards Manfred I removed these flags from CFLAGS -funroll-loops -fprefetch-loop-arrays and it emerged fine. These flags have been in place for 6 years so I'm surprised it matters but it does. Setting severity back to normal. Personally I wouldn't call this fixed but I no longer have the problem |
