Maybe will be good to change 

MozillaFirebird -remote "openURL($@ ,new-window)"

on

MozillaFirebird -remote "openURL($@)"

or to add extra key to MozillaFirebird wrapper (with 3 different meaning:
""(empty)/"new-window"/"new-tab"). It's may be second parametr

MozillaFirebird http://someurl new.tab

I hate new unexpected  windows. OTOH I alway can to open new window or tab to
open url or press back, if I accidentally open url in current window.

Similar functionality has been added to Firebird/Firefox.
