versions 3.7 of both are now released. 
 
Copying the old ebuild files works (3.6-r1 for PyQt, 3.7 for sip), and PyQt needs a 
dependency on >dev-python/qscintilla-1.53 
 
The patch files from old versions cant just be copied.... The literal version number 
appears in the diff text! I attach two new patch files that change a much smaller 
amount of code. They have the same effect, but hopefully these two patches will also 
apply to future versions too.

Argh - that should be >=dev-python/qscintilla-1.53
