Also, got a DeprecationWarning: raising a string exception is deprecated in /usr/lib/rootstrap/builder: 73 this is not a version bump request, but a regular bug report. version bumps are requests to include a newer version (as released by upstream) in portage. as this package is unmaintained in gentoo, the problem is best reported to upstream (in this case the debian bug database). if and when debian fixes this bug in a newer version, a version bump request can be filed. thanks for your contribution.
