Description Matthew Daubenspeck 2002-05-07 10:36:16 UTC
I have a Compaq Armada 110 with 32bit cardbus support. I have tried to install
usiing the 1.1 CD and am having issues with PCMCIA support. If I use the CD
kernel to boot, the pcmcia-cs work perfeclty and I can continue the install. As
soon as I compile a new kernel [either the included linux-2.4.19-r1 or updated
gentoo-2.4.19-r1 sources] and reboot, using cardmgr locks the system hard. The
only recovery method is a hard reset.

I have tested three different 32bit cardbus NICS, all with the same result. I
have also used 3 different 16bit cards, and they work perfectly. All three 32bit
cards to work perfectly using the kernel and pcmcia-cs included on the install cd.

Have you tried the pcmcia-cs 3.1.31 ebuild? That may be what is on the CD.
Comment 2 Matthew Daubenspeck 2002-05-08 08:00:42 UTC
I just tried the downgrade, and I had the exact same result.
Comment 3 Matthew Daubenspeck 2002-05-08 08:22:40 UTC
Incidentally, I double checked the version of pcmcia-cs on the cd:

insmod pcmcia_core
Linux PCMCIA Card Services 3.1.33
cardmgr -V
cardmgr version 3.1.33

What release it is, I have no idea...

What is the status of this problem? Have the new pcmcia-cs versions cleared it up? What about the io address fix needed for some Dell laptops?
Comment 5 Matthew Daubenspeck 2002-07-24 13:18:28 UTC
The card works with the new cs package, but I still cannot get the net.ethx
scripts working.

I have to manually add the IP and route commands...
