I don't install Gnome (note "-gnome" and "gtk qt kde" below) and only really use gtk 
for GIMP and OOo.  The OpenOffice-1.1_rc1 ebuild failed because I didn't have GTK+ 
2.0 or greater (previously had 1.2.10-r10).  After doing an "emerge gtk+" everything 
went fine. 
 
It might be worth it to add >=dev-libs/gtk+-2.0 to RDEPEND to make sure this builds 
properly.

This should no longer be an issue in the openoffice-1.1.0 ebuild I just committed.
The crash reporter is no longer build as it is no use to openoffice as they
don't have the symbols (it is home-compiled)
