Bug 252197

Summary: dev-libs/boost-1.37.0 setting 'debug' no longer installs both debug and non-debug libraries
Product: Gentoo Linux Reporter: Alex Turbov <I.zaufi>
Component: [OLD] LibraryAssignee: Tiziano Müller (RETIRED) <dev-zero>
Status: RESOLVED FIXED
Severity: normal CC: cpp+disabled

Hardware: All
OS: Linux

Runtime testing required: ---

Description Alex Turbov 2008-12-22 18:32:21 UTC
after moving to boost-1.37 I've lost libraries with '-d' suffix (which is stands for debug version of corresponding lib). Trying to set 'debug' useflag has no effect too...

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. unmask boost-build-1.37.0 and boost-1.37.0
2. USE=debug emerge =boost-1.37.0

Actual Results:
watch empty output of `ls /usr/bin/libboost* | grep '\-d\.'`

Expected Results:
bunch of debugging boost libs

it would be nice to have release and debug libraties at the same time (like in --layout=system before)

Ok, let's see what the maintainer has to say about the change from --layout=system to --layout=versioned and whether it is still possible to have debug and release libraries installed side-by-side
Comment 2 Tiziano Müller (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-02-07 07:16:51 UTC
This has nothing todo with layout=system or layout=versioned. We don't provide debug and release versions at the same time anymore since boost-1.34.1-r2.

But I accept patches to make it work again...

Made it work myself.
