I should mention I have an x86 box with a 7300 GT and the >=x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-177.80 do not cause any problems there with the same kernel version. Also, the 177.80 drivers cause the same problem on my AMD64 with 2.6.26 kernels as well. You should file a bug with nvidia as it is hardware specific. Please attach the relevant Xorg.?.log to this bug report. I can post the Xorg log after the crash, but there is nothing in there, there is no output to the terminal or in the log, it just completely hard freezes. The terminal is unresponsive remotely and the machine must be hard reset. Please use nvidia-bug-report.sh from a virtual terminal while X is running and if possible after the error occurs. If it's not possible, save your X log after the issue (i.e. don't immediately overwrite it) and attach the info here and send this to linux-bugs@nvidia.com |
