Description Ravi Pinjala 2008-12-16 20:27:49 UTC
When I try to get an IP from my home router, dhcpcd gets no replies to its DHCP_DISCOVER messages. Initially, I had written this off as a router bug, and used static DHCP instead, which worked. However, I am now seeing an identical problem on a completely different router, leading me to believe that it's a Gentoo bug.

The first router was a Linksys something running DD-WRT v24; the new router is some kind of special router that comes with AT&T U-Verse.

I have my emerge --info, my kernel config, and a wireshark dump of a failed attempt at getting a DHCP lease at the following URL:
http://p-static.net/dhcp-fail/

I'm trying it with dhcpcd-4.0.7 right now, I'll update this bug with the results.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run dhcpcd (either manually, or via init scripts)
2. ???
3. No lease :(

Identical results with dhcpcd-4.0.7. I also tried disabling the compat and zeroconf USE flags, but no luck.

Closing this bug. The problem turned out to be PEBKAC; the cable was plugged into an inactive port.
