Latest version of virtualenv (1.3.1) fixes compatibility problems with
Python 2.6, see http://pypi.python.org/pypi/virtualenv#id2

  Real Python 2.6 compatibility. Backported the Python 2.6 updates to site.py, 
  including user directories
