Bug 250860 – net-misc/networkmanager-0.7.0 needs consolekit service to be running for working fine

While I was trying to configure my wireless network from networkmanager I was having a lot of problems for saving configuration in /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/"net profile". 

The steps are simply configure the profile and try to apply to all users. When I clicked on button for applying to all users it simply didn't work and, when I reopened networkmanager it appeared as not enabled for all users again.

Running nm-applet from a terminal I got:
[WARN 21823] polkit-action.c:211:polkit_action_set_action_id():
polkit_action_validate_id (action_id)
 Not built with -rdynamic so unable to print a backtrace

Then, I searched in google and found this:

Maybe NetworkManager init.d file should add a need over consolekit service or, at least, this should be included under elog to the ebuild

Hi Pacho,

Did you add your user to policykit? Usually this error occurs when user doesn't have rights under policykit section.

I will check your report out (as I've got consolekit enabled ever since I remember, and didn't expect it could affect NM in any case).

I tried to add me (pacho) with 
polkit-auth --grant org.freedesktop.network-manager-settings.system.modify
"pacho"

But it failed (bug 250858)

Anyway this also occurs when running it as root

consolekit is not required. I just upgraaded last night and do not have consolekit enabled at all.

For me it is still required when trying to apply network profile settings to all users

Also "xdm" now requires uses consolekit...
