Thanks for your concern, assigning to maintainers for further review. actually we have already discussed this issue in the last kde team's meeting. we plan to make changes to kde3 eclasses so as to slot all kde3 misc packages and reduce issues concerning 3/4 installations and +/-kdeprefix. But as this is a big step please be patient. Our target is to be ready for 4.2 and have as less issues with 3.5.10 as possible. More info can be found at last meeting's summary at kde.gentoo.org OK. Had a look at the logs. It doesn't seem to have made it to the summary in a format I can understand, but the crucial bit related to this is between 20:30 and 20:45 As I read it, the slot change is happening because the KDE version based slots don't work when you have a version that can be built against 4.2 or 4.1 (for example). These sorts of changes to how things work are the sort of things that teams should be posting news peices about somewhere - either (where possible) the month before in GMN or in the main site news feed. (I've discussed it elsewhere before, but I'd like to see security announcements in their own list and the announcements list used for things like this that affect users). bugzie This was fixed quite well i think. All kde4 apps have slot :4 now. |
