The current ebuild for www-servers/cherokee is at version 0.9.0, although the most current version is 0.11.3, making the cherokee ebuild quite old and affected by several stability, performance, and security issues.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge -p cherokee

Actual Results:  
Get www-servers/cherokee-0.9.0

Expected Results:  
Get www-servers/cherokee-0.11.3

In addition to the version bump, the ebuild needs the gnutls flag taken out as cherokee is now OpenSSL-only, the init script needs cherokee-guardian changed to cherokee, and the additional configuration version update scripts need included.

I have marked this bug as Normal because there are several important bugs that affect the version currently in portage, so the ebuilds should probably be updated.

If the maintainer of the package can't or doesn't want to maintain the ebuilds for cherokee anymore, I'd be happy to take over. I've already made the necessary changes to support the latest cherokee, and I have submitted the ebuild along with the other files to the mailing list where others have had success using it.

With all due respect, how is this a duplicate of #246298? This ebuild is for a new major version, and several minor versions of Cherokee. Also, there has been no progress (including new ebuilds) on that bug in quite some time. While there are some patches from that bug that could also be applied to my ebuilds, these are totally different ebuilds for a totally different version of cherokee.
