I tried to emerge hugin-0.7.0. It pulled in a lot of packages, however, it aborted compilation with a message:

/var/tmp/portage/media-gfx/hugin-0.7.0/work/hugin_build/src/hugin_base/libhuginbase.so: undefined reference to `ReadJpegFile(ImageInfo_t&, char const*, ReadMode_t)'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[2]: *** [src/tools/align_image_stack] Error 1

In some obscure forum I found out that I needed to install exiv2. So I emerged exiv2, and now emerge hugin-0.7.0 worked without problems. Didn't test hugin yet, but at least it starts.

thanks for the report, exiv2 added to the the dependencies.
