I am tired of this 6th consecutive build failure ... eachtime at a different place and timing, always with "similar" error ... I have 13G free, and, if it was a RAM failure, i would expect random compilation problems on other ebuilds.

Do you use some sort of script, that automatically cleans /var/tmp regulary? Besides that: Please build with MAKEOPTS="-j1" (as the ebuild advices) so that we get a useful log.
