Bug 246432 – dev-util/subversion needs to be slotted

Due to the incompatibilities between version 1.4 and 1.5, it is necessary that both client versions should be able to be installed at the same time and to have the ability to eselect between the two.  I am running into issues where the subversion server is version 1.2 (not under my control) and I need to use <= 1.4.6.  The problem with that is mythtv (release-0-21-fixes) for example now is requiring the 1.5 subversion client.  So as a result I am effectively not able to update the mythtv package because I need to have the older client installed.

Only one subversion version may be installed.

Expected Results:  
Should be able to have 1.4 and 1.5 subversion clients installed.

I suspect this will only happen if you do the grunt work yourself. Reassigning anyway. Maintainers, what say you?

I think you're right.  The problems I'm experiencing might be bugs.  I was experiencing the same issue as this user:
