I boot to the CD hit enter.  It then does its checks and then gets to EVMS 
moduals and hangs there doing nothing.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Boot
2.Hit enter
3.Hangs




I have an Athalon 1.4 ghz with 768megs of ram SDRAM.  (I have a gig of ram but 
had to take on of the moduals out to get this far.)
45 gig pri-master
60 gig pri-slave
Samsung CD-RW sec-master
Generic CD-RW sec-slave
nVidia gForce 4 ti 4200 128meg DDR.
Audigy 1 gamer sound card.
Network everyware Linksys nic.

you can boot with "gentoo noraid" to disable evms. 
This is the first ive heard of evms locking anything up. 
Id be curious as type of motherboard (ide controller),etc. 
you mentioned having to take one of the memory modules out, 
blank screen? if so your hitting the highmem framebuffer bug. 
boot with "nofb noraid" then.

MoBo is an Abit KT7A, IDE controler is VIA.
Yes its a blank screen with all my ram in.  With that bit of info I was able to get past that hang up but now it's hanging after "Autoconfiguring devices... Done."  Just a flashing curser.

This bug has been inactive for some time. The problem might have been fixed by now, or it might be difficult to reproduce and still be lurking.

Please test one of the latest LiveCDs and reopen this bug if the problem persists. You feedback and support is appreciated.
