If you use the gtk use flag the builtin quickstarter should work under kde too. That it didn't work recently just was a bug in OOo 3.0, the quickstarter was broken as a whole. But this has been fixed yesterday (just before unmasking OOo 3.0). So sync again, rebuild OOo 3.0 with the gtk use-flag and it should work again. I see that 3.0 just went stable today (in portage). I'll compile it and give it a shot. Also, I discovered the GTK USE flag requirement as well. It was mentioned in the thread I linked to. Since I run a full KDE desktop, I leave the GTK USE flag disabled since, in general, I don't really want GTK apps installed. I don't think I'm alone in this. Since the GTK USE flag is (for some reason) required for the quickstarter functionality, should mention of this perhaps be included in the ebuild output? It certainly would've saved me a big headache just simply trying to figure out why the option doesn't even exist on my copy. :-) (In reply to comment #2) > I see that 3.0 just went stable today (in portage). Anything new in respect to the build? Is the quickstarter now working for you? Nope, no luck. I get the option, just like I did with the 2.4.x version, but it still doesn't have any effect whatsoever. Here's the build details, if it helps (without the LANGUAS flags): [ebuild R ] app-office/openoffice-3.0.0 USE="cups dbus gtk kde opengl pam -debug -eds -gnome -gstreamer -java -ldap -mono -nsplugin -odk -templates" Any other ideas about what might cause this? FYI, I reinstalled Gentoo on a couple systems w/ KDE4. The quickstarter for OpenOffice 3.0.0 is working perfectly fine now, using the following USE flags: app-office/openoffice-3.0.0 USE="cups dbus gtk opengl pam -binfilter -debug -eds -gnome -gstreamer -java -kde -ldap -mono -nsplugin -odk -templates" I can't begin to guess why it'd work with KDE4 and not KDE3, especially when the KDE patches haven't even been ported to KDE4 yet. But, I'll take it. :-) It works like a champ, and startup is finally super-responsive. Thanks for reporting back, closing |
