When compiling openoffice-2.4.1 with renderproto-0.9.3, it fails with:
configure: error: no, X headers too old.

Masking this version of renderproto (and downgrading to 0.9.2) resolves the issue.

Strangely, libXrender is at 0.9.2.  I would have expected the two to both be at the same level to begin with.

At least OOo 3.0 works fine her with renderproto 0.9.3, so you might try this.

Closing as not relevant anymore, everybody should use OOo 3.0 nowadays ;)
