Except that X requires some of those fonts to function properly... Do you have a list of replacements? Thanks I do not, at this time. I am in the middle of trying to get a Free JDK working, but once I am done with that I will manually unmerge these fonts and see if there are any noticable problems. If so, I may take a few hours to design really simple replacements as needed. (In reply to comment #1) > Except that X requires some of those fonts to function properly... Do you have > a list of replacements? To my knowledge X only requires "fixed" font provided to function properly. media-fonts/font-misc-misc provides that, which isn't listed in comment #0 Confirmed: no problems with these packages removed. We package X.Org as released by upstream, so this is more appropriately addressed to them. I know people are interested in fixing license issues because a number have been resolved in recent times. Please file upstream bugs at bugs.freedesktop.org in the xorg product. Thanks! X.org is distributed split. How is a USE flag on a meta-package an upstream issue? (In reply to comment #6) > X.org is distributed split. How is a USE flag on a meta-package an upstream > issue? Our meta package reflects the package set contained in an X.Org X11 release as determined by upstream X.Org developers. The suggestion in this bug is a workaround instead of getting the licenses changed (if indeed they are nonfree), which needs to happen upstream. |
