emerging xfree-drm-4.3.0-r4 i get:
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.21-rc7-ac1/kernel/drivers/char/drm/radeon.o

i have kernel 2.4.21-rc7-ac1,xfree xfree-4.3.0-r3 and a radeon mobility 9000

sinbad root # depmod -ae -F /lib/modules/2.4.21-rc7-ac1/build/System.map

xfree-drm-4.3.0-r2 works correctly and loads
xfree-drm-4.3.0-r3 used to work, but i have not (re)tried it yet

tested xfree-drm-4.3.0-r5 today, no improvement

Could you try a 2.4.20 kernel and see if it works (e.g., gentoo-sources-2.4.20-r5)?

sorry, but i have a fairly new laptop and i need -ac for the ide controller.
the issue is moot anyway: I've tried 2.4.22-pre3-ac1 that was released yesterday night and the radeon drm driver works out of the box.
No need even to install xfree-drm.
