In both arquitetures... Reproduce in two comps, one of 32 bits, Semprom another AMD64..
Portato 0.10 works... after emerging to Portato 0.11 or 0.11.1, Portato no more open or work.
Down grade to Portato 0.10, and works..
Other GUIs for Portage and Portatge itself, works great. Therefore is a Bug in Portato 0.11 or newer.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.System with Portato 0.10 installed
2.su, password, emerge portato
3.execute portato command in a Bash, root mode

Actual Results:  
Portato no more works or opening the Graphical Interface...

Expected Results:  
Was espected that Portato open thei GUI and runs...

Error in the output of the portato command, when tried to use it:

Also, could you attach the file /etc/portato/portato.cfg since portato crashed while trying to parse it?

KeyNotFoundException: "Key 'collapsecats' not found in section 'GUI' in file
'/etc/portato/portato.cfg'."

Bug invalid. 
it is not really a bug!
configuration files out to date!
After emerging portato, 
simply run the commands (logged as root):
dispatch-conf or
etc-update
