I can confirm this bug - on my pc kicker also segfaults after upgrading to kde-3.5.10. Re-emerging of qt-3.3.8b, kdelibs and kicker hasn't helped... emerge --info Portage 2.2_rc8 (default-linux/amd64/2007.0/desktop, gcc-4.2.4, glibc-2.8_p20080602-r0, 2.6.26-gentoo-r1 x86_64) ================================================================= System uname: Linux-2.6.26-gentoo-r1-x86_64-AMD_Athlon-tm-_64_Processor_3000+-with-glibc2.2.5 Timestamp of tree: Wed, 17 Sep 2008 12:40:02 +0000 ccache version 2.4 [disabled] app-shells/bash: 3.2_p39 dev-java/java-config: 1.3.7, 2.1.6-r1 dev-lang/python: 2.4.4-r14, 2.5.2-r7 dev-python/pycrypto: 2.0.1-r6 dev-util/ccache: 2.4-r7 sys-apps/baselayout: 2.0.0 sys-apps/openrc: 0.2.5 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.18.1-r3 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.62-r1 sys-devel/automake: 1.5, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r2, 1.10.1-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.18-r3 sys-devel/gcc-config: 1.4.0-r4 sys-devel/libtool: 2.2.4 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.26 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="amd64 ~amd64" CBUILD="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=k8 -msse3 -O2 -pipe" CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/3.5/env /usr/kde/3.5/share/config /usr/kde/3.5/shutdown /usr/share/config" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/ca-certificates.conf /etc/env.d /etc/env.d/java/ /etc/fonts/fonts.conf /etc/gconf /etc/gentoo-release /etc/php/apache2-php5/ext-active/ /etc/php/cgi-php5/ext-active/ /etc/php/cli-php5/ext-active/ /etc/revdep-rebuild /etc/terminfo /etc/texmf/web2c /etc/udev/rules.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=k8 -msse3 -O2 -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS="--deep" FEATURES="distlocks parallel-fetch preserve-libs sandbox sfperms strict unmerge-orphans userfetch" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://mirrors.sec.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de/gentoo/ http://gentoo.osuosl.org http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" LANG="pl_PL.utf8" LC_ALL="pl_PL.utf8" LDFLAGS="" LINGUAS="pl" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS="--recursive --links --safe-links --perms --times --compress --force --whole-file --delete --stats --timeout=180 --exclude=/distfiles --exclude=/local --exclude=/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/layman/sunrise /usr/local/layman/gnash-cvs /usr/local/layman/desktop-effects /usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="3dnow X a52 aac acl acpi alsa amd64 ao apache2 audiofile bash-completion berkdb bluetooth bzip2 cairo cddb cdparanoia cdr cli cracklib crypt dbus dri dts dvd dvdr dvdread encode evo exif expat fam fbcon ffmpeg fftw firefox flac ftp gdbm geoip gif glut gnutls gphoto2 gpm gtk hal iconv imagemagick imlib ipv6 java java6 javascript joystick jpeg jpeg2k kde kerberos ladspa lash lcms ldap libedit libsamplerate lirc lm_sensors mad matroska midi mmx mng mozilla mp3 mpeg mplayer mudflap musepack mysql ncurses nls nptl nptlonly nsplugin ogg oggvorbis openal openexr opengl openmp oss pam pch pcre pdf perl png postgres pppd python qt3 qt3support qt4 quicktime readline reflection samba sasl sdl slang slp sndfile spell sqlite sqlite3 sse sse2 ssl subversion svg tcpd tetex theora threads tiff truetype unicode usb v4l v4l2 vcd vorbis wxwindows x264 xcomposite xine xinetd xml xml2 xorg xv xvid zlib" ALSA_CARDS="intel8x0" ALSA_PCM_PLUGINS="adpcm alaw asym copy dmix dshare dsnoop empty extplug file hooks iec958 ioplug ladspa lfloat linear meter mmap_emul mulaw multi null plug rate route share shm softvol" APACHE2_MODULES="actions alias auth_basic auth_digest authn_anon authn_dbd authn_dbm authn_default authn_file authz_dbm authz_default authz_groupfile authz_host authz_owner authz_user autoindex cache dav dav_fs dav_lock dbd deflate dir disk_cache env expires ext_filter file_cache filter headers ident imagemap include info log_config logio mem_cache mime mime_magic negotiation proxy proxy_ajp proxy_balancer proxy_connect proxy_http rewrite setenvif so speling status unique_id userdir usertrack vhost_alias" CAMERAS="*" ELIBC="glibc" INPUT_DEVICES="evdev joystick keyboard mouse" KERNEL="linux" LCD_DEVICES="bayrad cfontz cfontz633 glk hd44780 lb216 lcdm001 mtxorb ncurses text" LINGUAS="pl" LIRC_DEVICES="devinput" USERLAND="GNU" VIDEO_CARDS="nvidia v4l" Unset: CPPFLAGS, CTARGET, FFLAGS, INSTALL_MASK, PORTAGE_COMPRESS, PORTAGE_COMPRESS_FLAGS, PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS Same here, kde does start, but kicker segfaults and refuses to start. It worked just now. Not sure why yet. You'll lose settings, obviously, but that's better than no panel. OK, in my case, this was caused because I used kde-misc/mtaskbar instead of the standard taskbar applet. Once I removed kickerrc, it defaulted to the standard one and started fine. Any attempt to add "Taskbar V2", which is how mtaskbar appears in the applet list, will insta-crash kicker. If you aren't running mtaskbar by default, then check for any other applets which aren't part of official KDE packages that you might be loading at start-up. Hello :-) Good call, Thomas! For me it was the taskbar-compiz applet... It not even in portage any longer, so I guess I shouldn't really be surprised ;-) For everyone looking for a replacement, this ebuild works great with compiz's viewports: http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php/Gentoo+kicker+viewport+taskbar+ebuild?content=83484 Maciek There are some similar reports at upstream's bug tracker, bugs.kde.org. You should tell them and provide a stack trace if you want this to be solved. I vote for RESO/UPSTREAM. Ok reading throught this bug gives me 2 ideas. 1) use integrated stuff with kde, no cool&trendy applets 2) poke upstream about it and fill new bug in bugzilla when they fix this For now closing as upstream. This is not entirely bug of kde3.5.10 tho it is bad behavior of those applets so it might be better to poke their maintainers. |
