GLibC 2.8 was released on 2008-04-11. GLibC tarballs are no longer created, so Gentoo uses GLibC snapshots. glibc-2.8-20080602.tar.bz2 and glibc-2.8-20080908.tar.bz2 contain identical contents. Also note that sys-libs/glibc-2.8_p20080602 is newer that hypothetical sys-libs/glibc-2.8. Thanks for the suggestion, but Arfrever is correct about new glibc policy http://sources.redhat.com/ml/libc-alpha/2008-05/msg00074.html So, nothing to be done for this bug... closing.
