No problem here and I have no clue atm why it fails for you.
Is your problem reproduceable? Did you change something recently?
Paste the output of `perl -V` please.

I never changed my perl configuration manually.
For me this problem is reproducable, i.e. it happens every time I try to emerge TermReadKey
