Version was released a few days ago. Renaming the 0.54 ebuild works, both for installation and in operation with claws-mail CVS on two ~amd64 systems.

libetpan-0.56 released 2008-09-02. build without changes in ebuild

0.57 is out now, renaming the ebuild works for me.
