Why is Proftpd 1.2.9_rc1 marked as stable? Shouldn't it be marked as unstable until it is fully
released?

some rc releases blow away previous releases ...
some rc releases remain as the only release for a long time :)

(not saying its the same with proftpd ...)
Comment 2 Brett Simpson 2003-06-26 16:10:18 UTC
I can understand wanting more features but 1.2.9_rc1 has only been out a little more
than a month and is just a release candidate. If somebody really needs bleeding
edge then they can use arch=~x86.

There is a known security issue with the mysql module in 1.2.8 which is why 1.2.9_rc1 was marked stable. I have not removed 1.2.8 from portage so you can still install this package if you wish.
