Bug 235253 – sys-apps/hal-0.5.11-r1: makes X freeze for seconds when changing backlight brightness

in a dell inspiron 1505, if I leave the computer alone for seconds, when I return and move the mouse, X freezes for seconds, it also happens when the brightness ie either in the maximum and I press Fn+Up (to increase the brightness) or in the minimum  and I press Fn+Down (to decrease it).

It does not happen if the brightness is in the middle and I press Fn+Up or Fn+Down

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Get the backlit in the maximum brightness
2. Press Fn+Up
3. Bug appears

Actual Results:  
X freezes for seconds

Expected Results:  
Don't freeze X

Interesting.  What happens if you downgrade hal-info to the previous release?

Hi! I have the same problem with sys-apps/hal-0.5.11-r1 but if I downgrade to sys-apps/hal-0.5.9.1-r3 the problem disappears

That's not the downgrade you were asked to do though. Downgrade hal-info, not hal itself.
